With thanks to Nia for Leap Frog Toys, Edward was sent one of his new toys, My Pal Scout.
Now, Edward is very hard to please when it comes to toys, which usually has a quick look, then crawls out (usually in search of food the child greedy!).
The bear came while he had his nap, and Chrissy has first look at it. She liked him, as he made noise and she usually likes everything that is cute.
When Edward finally woke up and was handed the bear's face literally lit up. He was there three days, and go where it goes, and Chrissy tries to pinch it is baby cried so much, she drops!
But it is better than just a quiet (ish) home.
How many times have you bought a toy to be relegated to the toy box after a few days, due to boredom?
Well, Leap Frog obviously thought about ways to combat it.
My Pal Scout and its equivalent girly comes with a USB cable to connect to your computer. No messing with disks (that are lost in our house). Simply connect the bear, go to the leap frog web site and download the software.
When this is done, the most ingenious toy becomes apparent. Not only is there a library of over 300 songs, favorite nursery rhymes to choose from soothing to download it to the bear, but you can further improve likability is selecting your child's favorite foods, colors and animals to bear repeating.
But theres more.
The one thing I absolutely love is that the site has a database of children's names and nicknames, which means that the bear can refer to your child by name. So now, when the bear say Hi, it says that Edward, who puts a smile endlessly. It also means that Chrissy knows is Edward Bear, not hers. If your name or surname of the child is not listed, then you can email the company and they will add to the list!
The site is updated regularly with new songs and activities, and also includes a handy feature to check your child's developement, and tips about activities you can do with their children to supplement the included bear.
The seat can also be changed to support through the website, so our bear, when it was brought out of the box, and spoke with an American accent, and now once to update it, talk to a lovely English accent again.
Another major factor is the configuration of lullabies. With a simple touch of a paw, you can set the bear to play 2, 5 or 10 minutes of relaxing music. Since having the bear, Edward has gone to sleep with no noise to hear the music, and when I woke up at 2, I changed it again and again went straight out. He also says his time "Goodnight Edward.
The bear is so easy to operate as it was for Edward to download the settings. The legs have symbols embroidered chunky a musical note, a ball, a cloud and stars to create a lullaby, and a power button.
Which brings me to another great thing, you turn it off if it gets too boring!
To say I am impressed with this bear is an understatement. It has the sympathy factor with children, who are fiddly or complicated to configure, and can be upgraded to reduce the possibility of boredom. If this toy does not win awards from the media will be shocked.
It's a toy of all large round education that I'm sure will become a firm favorite in this house.
